Dorchester Festival 22/23rd May

Dorchester Roman Festival Maumbury Rings, Dorchester 22 & 23 May 2010-03-15 11am - 4pm. Free. Visit the atmospheric Roman amphitheatre to commemorate the 1600th anniversary of the end of Roman Rule. Roman re-enactors Legio II Augusta will be providing displays by legionaries and gladiators, demonstrations of everyday life in Roman Britain and opportunities for the whole family to join in. Caerleon Festival 3rd/4th July

Arthur: Caerleon to Camelot. Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July 11am – 5pm. Caerleon Amphitheatre. Come and join us for a magical weekend as Caerleon comes alive to tales of Arthur in this spectacular show. Watch Britannia, the UK’s largest late Roman re-enactment society, in the Amphitheatre. Listen to Dr Juliette Wood talk on 'The Truth about King Arthur'. With Living History, Dragon puppets, craft stalls, children's activities and tours of Roman Caerleon with an Archaeologist. Roman Film Festival
Friday 23rd July - Sunday 25th July

Chichester Cinema at New Park Celebrating 1600 years since the Romans left Britain in 410AD, a weekend of films and documentaries presented jointly by Chichester District Museum and New Park Cinema. Alexander the Great, Gladiator, Spartacus and Centurion will all be shown along with a series of documentaries on the invasion. Tickets available from Chichester Cinema. 9th October - 'Romans Go Home' event
at Jewry Wall Museum, Leicester

Displays of late roman military kit & drill, roman food & cosmetics by the Batavi. A fashion show comparing 2nd (provided by the 'Ratae Romans') & 5th century fashion for soldiers, civilian men & women. There will also be a couple of talks.

        

2010 Comitatus, Northern England

Re-enactment group Comitatus are planning a number iof events to commemorate 410, including:

10/11 July Ribchester Roman Festival. Cavalry, infantry and artillery performing alongside the Leg. II Aug.

22/25 July Senhouse Museum Roman Festival, Maryport. Cavalry, artillery, infantry, LH.

29/30 August BH Sewerby Hall, Bridlington. Cavalry, infantry and artillery by the seaside for the biggest show of the year.
